TLDR: Switched to the Cactus theme
I was in the mood for a redesign recently, so I picked the much cleaner Cactus theme. Most of my previous features and configurations migrated smoothly.
Fixed the long-standing issue of small headings—got Copilot to help me write a Python script to upgrade all top-level headings in my posts to H2. (Spoiler: Copilot also introduced a bunch of bugs.)
Did some custom tweaks (mostly CSS), and even wrote a few Hexo plugins myself to add features like: giscus comments, Creative Commons license notices, Markdown tag support, image captions, and more.
[2023-11-03] Update
TLDR: Migrated away from Alibaba Cloud CDN and OSS. Now both blog and www sites are hosted and built on Cloudflare Pages, with optimized IP routing for China.
Originally, I used Alibaba Cloud CDN for domestic traffic and GitHub Pages abroad. Later, to streamline deployment and reduce costs (and lessen reliance on domestic cloud providers), I moved everything to Vercel. But within months, Vercel got blocked by anti-fraud systems in China—even custom domains stopped resolving. So I switched everything to Cloudflare Pages with optimized routing for China. Domestic access speed is actually pretty decent now.
Fingers crossed Cloudflare doesn’t get blocked. (flag)

[2022-07-01] Update
TLDR: Switched from the Yilia theme, which had too many bugs and quirks, to Fluid.
I really liked Yilia’s clean and elegant design, but the theme is no longer maintained. Since I wanted to try something new, I switched to the Material Design-inspired Fluid theme, updated Hexo, fixed various issues, removed unused configs and plugins, and integrated my self-hosted Waline comment backend.
[2021-07-11] Update
TLDR: Completed ICP备案 (ICP filing) for the domain, and now using Alibaba Cloud’s pay-as-you-go CDN for faster access in China.
Had to configure cache policies in _headers, which worked similarly to the previous _redirects setup. Also upgraded Hexo in the process.
[2020-08-06] Update
TLDR: Finished merging content from my old WordPress blog
My previous blog felt more like a social media feed—just posting what I did, not why or how. Kinda cringe in hindsight, but… I can’t be bothered to rewrite it. It’s a snapshot of my past self, after all.

TLDR: Launched a secondary site lyc8503.ml, mainly for publishing final projects, while this blog focuses on sharing the research and development process. (Also, the secondary site uses Gitee Pages for faster access in China :P)
No longer needed since I’ve migrated to a domestic CDN. Final project releases are now mirrored across various platforms in China.
I’ve been reworking my Orange Pi setup lately, so my WordPress blog has been silent for quite a while. Between schoolwork and other daily hassles, I still haven’t fully dockerized my server applications, so the blog stayed offline. Now I’m trying a new setup: Hexo + GitHub + Netlify, and I’m migrating content from WordPress. Going forward, I’ll be writing in Markdown.
Hope I can stick with it. :)
